Grinda Södra ferry quay to Grinda Wärdshus

1.9 km

When you disembark at Grinda Södra ferry quay, the trail begins directly to the west (left) of the SAT infosign, in the southwest corner of the meadow.

Enter the trail and follow it along the southern coast above the sea. The trail then turns north through the forest until you reach a gravel road. To the left, it leads to a loading dock.

Turn right.

After about 50 meters on the gravel road, a trail descends steeply to the left, down towards the water. It follows the shoreline to the right, up to a cliff edge where it then turns back into the forest and continues around the rocky outcrop until you reach an outhouse and a swimming area.

On the right side (east), a gravel road runs along the pasture. You will see Grinda Wärdshus ahead of you, as well as the guest harbor. Head toward the Wärdshus, northward.

At the Wärdshus, the trail continues on the left (west) side of the building.

Grinda Wärdshus to Grinda Norra ferry quay

1.6 km

Above Grinda Wärdshus, a forest road begins. Follow it westward (to the left), past the bay, and continue north until you reach the sea again – about 700 meters.

There is a private property on the left (west). The trail continues along the path to the right (east), along the bay. After 450 meters, you will reach a large open field with designated fire pits.

Across the field, you will see a gravel road.

Follow that road northward (left). It leads all the way to Grinda Norra ferry quay.

Grinda Norra ferry quay to the Viewpoint Hill

2.9 km
Technical trail

About 50 meters before reaching Grinda Norra ferry quay, the SAT trail enters a path heading eastward along the sea. This section is more technical.

After just under 100 meters, you will reach some wooden steps. Go down and then follow the trail over a ridge. It leads down to an open area with a fire pit by the water.

Beyond the fire pit (to the east), the trail continues through the terrain. Follow it up and down, winding forward with the sea relatively close on your left (north).

After 2.5 km, you will reach the eastern tip of the island. The trail then ascends nearly 180 degrees up the hill toward the summit — about 45 meters in elevation.

Once at the top, you will have a fantastic view if you head left (eastward).

The trail then descends to the right (westward).

Viewpoint Hill to Grinda Sea Lodge

2 km
Technical trail

After enjoying the view, continue on.

Follow the trail downward, westward. It leads you back toward the water, now along the southern coast. Then, the trail goes gently up and down until you reach a pasture. Follow it on the southern side of the fence.

About 200 meters before the farm, a trail turns left (south). Follow it through blueberry bushes until you reach a forest road. Turn left, heading south toward the sea. After 100 meters, you will reach a 3-way intersection. Grinda Sea Lodge is straight ahead, down by the water.

The Stockholm Archipelago Trail continues to the right, westward.
